    Libbe Phan

    Founder & Editor in Chief

Hi there! I'm Libbe (she/her/hers), a third-year college student hailing from sunny Southern California. My passion for the arts and storytelling sparked the idea for my project, Humankind Zine, back in the summer of 2019. Since then, I've had the privilege of meeting countless incredible individuals with unique stories from across the globe.

Outside of Humankind Zine, you can often find me spending quality time with my three pugs, Poppy, Chai, and Squish. I also enjoy experimenting with various forms of arts and crafts, collecting unique stickers and trinkets, and delving into new and exciting areas of knowledge. I'm always on the lookout for fresh inspiration and opportunities to expand my horizons.

  • Muskan Kaur

    Blog Director

I’m Muskan, from India, and basically just an 18-year-old college student. I’m pursuing humanities as of now, and needless to say, I love everything about the creative arts. I adore writing, poems, in particular, playing guitar, baking, working out, photography, and occasionally reading; although I am trying to change them occasionally too often. also, taking pictures of anything and everything around me makes my heart so so happy. anything that’s even a tad bit inspiring will definitely be found in my camera roll. a friend once said to me “your camera roll is the movie of your life” and I think nothing could describe me better. my Instagram at this point is just photo dumps of 1/4th of the billion photos I take!

I moved to India a few years back from Mauritius! I absolutely love the beach and eating donuts and shopping. fashion is another passion of mine. I’m obsessed with creating new outfits using my pre-owned clothes; modern recycling if you will ;) fashion and writing and photography are truly the things I’m passionate about; they make me feel alive.

  • Zeinab Ajasa

Creative Associate - Graphic Design & Illustration

Chicago-based artist, Zeinab Ajasa, has been illustrating and writing for the majority of her life. Birth ties to America, Nigeria, and England inform her work and has helped her come to terms with not having a concrete place to call home. Visually, drawings and writing are often merged into a hybrid to create rich and layered artworks. Poetically, she borders the line between matter-of-fact and nonsensical, usually finding a happy middle with stream-of-consciousness. Illustratively, she deconstructs the rules of comics and makes panelless, compositional stories using experimental typography. She is inspired by the world around her and the people that she chooses to have in her life. The smallest most insignificant thing could catch her eye, and she’ll write or draw about it using type to express the feeling. Life is so rich and full, that even the smallest things, like a ladybird crawling on a window screen, is worth writing about.

  • Hafsah Bibi

Creative Associate - Photography & Collage

My name is Hafsah, and I’m a member of the creative team! I’m 21 years old, from the UK, and currently studying photography at Coventry University. I hope to graduate this year and in the future, I hope to create and showcase storytelling photos to the world.

I joined Humankind Zine to learn what it means to contribute to something meaningful. As humans, we are all very complex, and art is such an interesting way to explore this. So happy to work with such a cool team!

Other than photography, I also love to create art in general like collages, and sometimes drawing/painting. I also play video games, read, and bake!

  • Shereen Rana

    Blog Writer

Hi! I'm Shereen Rana, and I'll be working as a blog writer for Humankind Zine. I've been writing for about a year now, and this is an outlet where I hope to continue my passion.

I've always loved writing. I can't remember when it started, but I do remember how much the prospect of writing essays in middle school heartened me. But it was recently that I really picked up words—including reading and poetry. I also currently work as a writer for Morpho Magazine.

Music, literature (especially mystery), punk rock, and an inexplicable love for, well, everything, is what really moves me. Also cats. These things always find a way into my works as motifs and themes.

Now, as a high-schooler nearing college, I hope to further my craft and reach other people the best I can as I move towards becoming an author.

  • Bucky Wolfe

After leaving JJC, Bucky plans to transfer to a 4-year university to get their BA in English with a focus in creative writing and later start work for a major publishing company in the states.
